What to Bring

Clothes:  Need clothes to layer in.  When we were there last year it was 80 degrees one day and then it snowed two days later.  Weather is very unpredictable out there (especially in October), so be sure to bring a variety of clothing.  Rain coat in case it rains because we'll be traveling out rain or shine.  Winter hat & gloves.  Fleece.  Shorts/"Action Pants".

It is very cold in the morning and at night! I can tell you that I (Betsy) layered up the entire trip! I wore a t-shirt or tank top, then a light zip up , then fleece zip up ( I wore a north face zip up, you can find awesome deals on north face gear at the flea market in raway! $40, but you have to go to raway) and then a warm jacket. I would peal off the layers as the day went on and would usually just end up in my t-shirt. It is going to be about 10 degrees cooler when we go in October. So the my last layer will be a long sleeved shirt. We are gonna be spending a lot of time during the day walking around out side (and driving) so, PLEASE bring clothes that will keep you warm.  During the day it should be in the 60's, but in the morning and late at night it will go as low as the 30's! Up in Yellowstone, it will be even a few degrees cooler! Make sure you check out the weather channel website for the forecast. We are gonna be in the mountains people!!! (ps I'm so excited!)

Camera:  We took around 950 pictures on our trip last year.  There is so much to see and you'll want to remember it all forever.  Plus you'll be witnessing the best, most gorgeous couple getting married.  Also remember a battery charger (we forgot ours last trip) or batteries.

Binoculars:  A great way for the passenger in the car to spot animals while driving around.  A lot of animals will be far in the distance so you won't want to miss momma bear and her cubs.

Ipod fm transmitter/ipod/CDs for the car:  We'll be spending a lot of time driving around and what better way to enjoy it then rocking out to ZZ Top.

Hiking shoes/comfortable sneakers:  We'll be doing a lot of walking also (you don't have to do all if you don't want to).  Some of the walking is on boardwalks some is on rough terrain up mountain peaks (Mount Washburn) or very steep stairs (Uncle Tom's Trail @ Grand Canyon of Yellowstone).  You may also want to get a couple pairs of wool socks as they are comfortable and do not hold moisture ("Cotton is rotten!"-B&J).

Sunglasses:  You gotta look cool when being attacked by a bear!

Bathing suit:  For those coming up to Bar-N, be sure to bring a bathing suit because we'll be judging best cannon ball and jackknifes into the hot tubs.

Hiking gear:  Backpack, headlamp, pocketknife (remember to put in checked in baggage on flight).

Books:  Remember those books we recommended getting.  Bring em!

Food: You can either buy your meals at restaurants or buy ingredients at small grocery stores in and around park to make your lunch on days through Yellowstone, as we'll be doing.
